San Ramon Valley Events – August 2014

San Ramon Valley Events was created to bring all the fun and exciting events to you in one place. Our hope is that you will use the information to get out there and enjoy what San Ramon and Danville have to offer. From time to time this will also include raising awareness about important events that will have a large impact on our cities.

The hot topic of conversation for many of us these past few months has been the new proposed development called the “Faria Development”. This development will add 740 new homes to San Ramon and will drastically alter the hillside near Deerwood and Bollinger Canyon roads. The concern by many of the residents of San Ramon is that it is too big of a development and will put a large strain on the resources, environment, roads, and schools in the area.

My personal perspective is that I would prefer not to have the area developed at all, but based on how things are progressing it appears that the project will eventually be approved. The next best thing would be to have the size of the development reduced, which I hope is something that the city and developer can come to an agreement on.

I care very much for this city. What makes San Ramon great is that we still have that small community feel. We care about each other and say hi to one another as we pass by on the street. I understand that growth is inevitable, but I just want to make sure that we grow at a smart pace and take the time to make sure we develop our city the right way.

There is a city council meeting scheduled for Monday, August 4th at 7:00 PM at the city council chambers off Camino Ramon. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss this project and allow members of our community to speak to the city council and share their perspective on it.

Regardless of your position on this development it is important for all of us to have a voice. Please take the time to come down and share your views with the city council.

Mike Continillo

Kids are a big focus of this year’s event this year with a Children’s Zone, designed with the smallest Soul on the Green guests in mind. The Children’s Zone is carnival themed and features games, prizes and fun entertainment for kids of all ages and a pizza oven.

Also on the menu will the savories and sweets from food trucks including Mamas and Tapas and Mustache Mikes Italian Ice. Adult guests are invited to sample an array of reds and whites from California wineries including Toasted Toad. As in previous years, musical entertainment is provided by the pop/soul band, Pride & Joy.
