San Ramon Valley Events – August 2015

Time flies when you are having fun! It seems like summer just got started and I am already hearing talk about kids going back to school. I hope that you are enjoying these summer months and have taken the time to get out and do something fun. My family loves the outdoor movie nights. If you have never been, you definitely need to go check it out. Bring a blanket and some snacks and head on down to one of the 4 showings this month. I haven’t seen “Big Hero 6” or “Lego Movie,” so those two nights are on my list. Whatever you do I hope you have fun doing it and I hope to see you out there.

Have a great summer!

San Ramon Valley Events – July 2015

Happy 4th of July! When I was growing up here in the San Ramon Valley, the 4th of July was all about going to the parade in downtown Danville in the morning, and then the fireworks show at Bishop Ranch in the evening. While Danville is still carrying on the tradition, San Ramon has not had a fireworks show the last few years due to budget and location constraints. It is something we all really enjoy and I hope we will have it back soon. Even without the show there are still lots of events going on. I hope you are able to get out there and enjoy what our cities have to offer and you have a safe and happy 4th of July.

As always thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter, and if you have an event coming up that you would like us to include, please let us know.

San Ramon Valley Events – June 2015

Many of my conversations with new folks moving to the area include the topic of what a great community we have here. For those of us that live in the San Ramon Valley, we know firsthand what a great place this is to live. What makes it great are the people who live here. I love the fact that I can be at the grocery store, or walking around town and feel comfortable enough to chat and be friendly with everyone I meet. The main reason for creating this newsletter is to help foster that strong sense of community, and provide a list of social events for us all to get out and enjoy. With that said, I hope to see you all out there soon.

As always thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter, and if you have an event coming up that you would like us to include, please let us know.

San Ramon Valley Events – February 2015

A topic of conversation that comes up for me on a regular basis is our wonderful school district. I speak with families all the time who want to move here because San Ramon Valley Unified is so highly rated, and has such a great reputation. Most of the credit for this high level of excellence goes to the wonderful teachers, and staff in the schools and the district, who work very hard to provide the best possible education for our children.

It’s important to also recognize that school districts don’t become so highly rated on their own. They need the constant support and involvement from parents and the community. Credit also needs to be given to the parents, families and community members who take the time to be involved in our children’s education.

I am very thankful to live in such a strong community, and I appreciate of all the effort and hard work that has contributed to making SRVUSD one of the best.

As always thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter, and if you have an event coming up that you would like us to include, please let us know.

San Ramon Valley Events – August 2014

San Ramon Valley Events was created to bring all the fun and exciting events to you in one place. Our hope is that you will use the information to get out there and enjoy what San Ramon and Danville have to offer. From time to time this will also include raising awareness about important events that will have a large impact on our cities.

The hot topic of conversation for many of us these past few months has been the new proposed development called the “Faria Development”. This development will add 740 new homes to San Ramon and will drastically alter the hillside near Deerwood and Bollinger Canyon roads. The concern by many of the residents of San Ramon is that it is too big of a development and will put a large strain on the resources, environment, roads, and schools in the area. [Read more…]

San Ramon Valley Events – July 2014

Hello,

With the weather warming up and the days getting longer it makes us want to head outside and find something fun to do… Well at least when it’s not 106 degrees outside. When that’s the case all we want to do is sit inside with the AC on and eat ice cream….

Summer nights are always fun. The fourth of July is Friday, and The City of San Ramon is hosting its annual festivities at Central Park.  We won’t have a fireworks show again this year, but the city is working hard to find a solution and get them back for us soon. Another great option for getting out after the day has cooled down, is to go see a movie in the park. Danville is hosting two movie nights in the next few weeks. Bring the family, a blanket, some food and relax under the stars while watching a movie outside. When is the last time you saw Goonies? One of my favorites for sure. [Read more…]

San Ramon Valley Events – June 2014

San Ramon Water ParksAs May passes us by and we head into June the weather is warming up and we start looking for fun ways to cool down. My daughter and I are currently enrolled in the Parent and Tot class at the San Ramon Aquatic center at Cal High. The class is run by the City of San Ramon, and we are having a lot of fun with it. Sophia is 3, so it’s all about getting used to being in the water. They take a very gentle approach and we make it fun along the way. The only problem we are having is that she cries every time class is over because she is having so much fun she does not want to leave. There are many other classes and events that the city puts on at the Aquatic centers at Cal High and Dougherty Valley. If you are looking for a way to beat the heat these are a couple of really great options. [Read more…]

San Ramon Valley Events – May 2014

Hello Everyone,

This past weekend my girls and I went up to Las Trampas for a walk. It had been many years since I had been up there, so it was like visiting for the first time. We ended up spending a couple of hours there and had a lot of fun. We walked a couple different paths, stopped to blow bubbles  (at 3 year old Sophia’s request). We had an impromptu picnic off the side of the trail, and made a decent effort to get to the top of the Bollinger Creek Loop Trail which climbs about 2000 feet. Not the easiest task when you are pushing a double stroller, but the views are amazing and definitely worth the effort. In the end the kids had a blast, I got a decent amount of exercise, and was able to spend a couple of priceless hours with my girls. [Read more…]

I recently ate there with a friend, and the food was amazing. I am very particular when it comes to authentic Italian food (Love you Grandma!) and they did not disappoint. Gianni’s has agreed to host this charity event in order to raise funds for Discovery Counseling Center  http://www.discoveryctr.net. [Read more…]

San Ramon Valley Events – March 2014

Well the rain is FINALLY here and that’s a very good thing. We need it badly, so it’s a welcome sight. For those of us with young children, we all know that keeping them indoors for days on end can create lots of pent up energy just waiting to be released. The question then becomes where do we go so that they can run and play and be active, but stay out of the rain? I thought I would share a few fun options that Cynthia and I have explored with our girls.

One option would be to check out the programs that The City of San Ramon offers.   They have lots of classes and camps for kids of all ages which will allow them to sing, dance, tumble or learn in many different ways. Our girls are currently enrolled in the Kindermusik class, which they look forward to each week. [Read more…]

San Ramon Valley Events – February 2014

It’s February, and that means that Valentine’s Day is just a few days away. I used to think that Valentine’s Day was just for couples to do something fun and take a moment to appreciate each other. I still believe that part is true, but now that I am a family man with two daughters, I have come to view this day as an opportunity to share your love with more than just your sweetheart. To me it’s about taking that time and making that effort to show all of our loved ones how much we care about them and appreciate having them in our lives. It’s the people around us who care for us, and love us that make this life great. Don’t forget to take the time on Valentine’s day, or any other day for that matter, to share your appreciation with the ones you love. [Read more…]

It doesn’t seem that long ago that parents huddled under blankets and warm coats braving cold mornings and starting times that began at the crack of dawn.  Armed for all day tournaments and weekends in inclement weather, traveling distances far and near, parents of San Ramon Soccer players devoted their time and patience to watching their children play outdoor soccer.

It’s time again for San Ramon Soccer to hold its annual U8-U14 AZURI Competitive tryouts and Copper Select evaluations.  For competitive players who want a more advanced level of play with professional training, San Ramon Soccer offers AZURI and the Copper Select program.  With this level of play comes a greater commitment of both time and finances than a recreational league, offering a longer playing season and the ability to play in tournaments.
